My Mobile Marlo

Marlo is MOBILE! She's on all 4's crawling and moving FAST, she pulls herself up on everything and anything she can, and she can sit up without any help (has to roll to her belly first). She get's around and it's presented a whole new world of possibilities for her and for us. It makes a lot of things harder AND easier...

*Bedtime is a battle every night because even though she can barely keep her eyes open, she will fight you to the death by sitting up and pulling herself up with her hands wrapped around the bars, eyes shut tight, and mouth wide open screaming. It's a delight.

*When she is playing by herself and I am doing something else she can just fall over and get back up again. Easy-peezy for this lemon-squeezy.

*She fell off my bed the other day. I know. I feel like i'm the worst. But to my credit, I had stopped her several times before it happened and it only took a second for me to bend down to grab laundry out of the baskets before I heard a THUMP on the floor. Poor baby. She cried for a minute or too but was pretty easily soothed. She actually cuddled me, which is a rare occurrence for Miss Marlo. And then she fell asleep (it was bedtime anyway and the reason I had her in my room was because she was fighting sleep). My Mom called me after I sent her the snap of it so horrified and worried and surprisingly I was not? I had a few friends already tell me that this had happened to them so I knew it wasn't the worst thing. Marlo was easily soothed, she was going to bed anyway so her getting sleepy didn't scare me, and I tugged and touched all her limbs so check for sensitivity - she was fine. You would think I would be more worried but I was fine.

*She comes to me! If I walk into a room, she crawls to me. If I call her, most of the time she was crawl to me. It's so validating! I love it. I will pick her up and then she will want back down. It's a game she plays - but it's so fun.

Mother's Day Up North

Summer is starting here in Idaho and we have been trying to take advantage as best as possible! For Mother's Day weekend we went up to a cabin in the Cour 'de Lane area with Nephi's parents and brother and sister-in-law. It was MUCH needed for Nephi and I. We've had a recent change in job and some other added stresses that made this trip a sorta answer to prayer.

The cabin was beautiful! We fished, went to a really fun park, spent time in the hot tub, I got to read a book and take a nap, and Marlo got much needed time with Grandma and Grandpa! I was telling Nephi's Mom that I really think Marlo knows who they are now. She is so blessed to have them close!

First time in the swing and she loved it!

So grateful for Nephi's parents driving with us! Marlo loved having them there.

My first Mother's Day was one for the books! It was special to be celebrated this year. I am very observant of other Mothers. I try not to judge them and I pray that others don't judge me! I feel like I ask for forgiveness daily because I am always coming up short but in a world full of comparison it's hard to not feel inadequate, especially because I don't fit the "mold" of "Motherhood".

I am overwhelmed most days and try not to wish the time away. I love the relationship I have with my Mom and I catch myself thinking, "When Marlos older we are going to..." NO -- I want to be better about living in the NOW with her. She is my dolly and I can't believe she's here.

Juicy Engagements

Last weekend (April 26) my one and only brother Sheridan got engaged to his darling lady Tiffany! To say we are ecstatic would be an understatement. They are perfect for each other and we couldn't be happier that Sheridan found Tiffany. She is also a perfect fit for our family. We love her!
Marlo loves her Tiffany!
It was so fun to be here and celebrate with them. It was also Tiffany's birthday so we had a dinner for her on Sunday and then just played games. They are such a fun couple!

I borrowed a friends juicer to juice these oranges my parents brought us from AZ. (Confession - I didn't even end up using the juice. Long story.) And while I was at it, I whipped out the Nutribullet (which I LOVE) and blended up some green beans and sweet potatoes for Marlo. She doesn't love them because they lack a little flavor but I actually just consulted with a doctor and he said not to add any flavoring and that she will eventually come around. (NOTE: I did mix the sweet potatoes with some apple sauce the other day and that kind of worked.)

Speaking of juicy...isn't she the yummiest!? I always know when the nap was long enough when she is so happy when she wakes up. I showed my Mom this picture and she was like, "Aren't you worried about her crawling over and jumping out?!" Nephi and I kinda scoffed at that because we thought there is NO WAY Marlo is strong enough to do that yet - I had to help her stand up in this picture. And lo and behold, Marlo literally started pulling herself up in her crib today. In fact, just right now as I am catching up on the blog and trying to get her to nap she keeps sitting up and pulling herself up. She can't quite get up all the way but she is close! Looks like we have to lower the crib.

Sore bodies

A few weeks ago we finally got to check off Skiing/Snowboarding in Idaho off our bucket list! To think I have lived here for 6+ years and have never been to a Ski resort is crazy! Finally I feel like Nephi and I joined an exclusive club...a club where we felt totally inadequate and idiotic, but we joined nonetheless.

We had planned to go up to Driggs to meet up with our good friends [the Henderson's] and go to the Jackson Aquatic Center. The day before we left, Sarah put together a plan to go skiing/snowboarding with the free passes they had so we made it work and we went!

Nephi and I were so nervous. He went snowboarding when he was 12 and I had been snowboarding once and then skiing a few times. (I actually can - or used to be able to - ski on water really well.) We weren't sure what to expect but I knew I didn't want to snowboard but Nephi was insistent so I borrowed skiis and he borrowed a board. I am happy to say that I didn't fall once and Nephi fell...oh...a handful of times (we will spare the number for his sake).

We stayed on the bunny hill the whole time - bless Sarah and Stephen. They were so patient with us. My boots fit but were a little tight on my ankles and left blisters that are still healing as I type this 3 weeks later. PS - Why is walking in ski boots harder than walking in snowboarding boots but skiing is so much easier than snowboarding? Nephi could barely grip the wheel of the car on the drive home and his legs were on fire most of the day. Needless to say - based on the title of this post - we were sore for the few says after that.

It was the day before the resort closed and we had a blast! So glad we got to go with such good friends. We needed the weekend to unwind from some stressful happenings at home and got to spend time with Nephi's parents as well. We even hit up the Corner Drug in Driggs for a Huckleberry shake, saw a buffalo have a miscarriage (craziest thing ever), and the babes (Marlo + June) got to play.
