Lunch-Break-Blogger

I'm a lunch-break-blogger.

I never blog from home. I need to but by the time I am home, I am done being on the computer. I'm sure many of you can relate. Also, I usually eat lunch at my desk so I kind of work, kind of blog, and kind of pin. It works itself out just fine. I need to unplug for a few minutes throughout the day...unless we have an event. If we do, there is no unplugging.

My lunch reminded me of our great weekend so I thought I would re-cap what we did.

On Friday Nephi's parents brought us dinner. They are great. Nephi ate and then ran to work and I hung out with Nephi's parents and his brother and SIL. We went to DQ and got dipped cones. Yum. Then we came back and Connie and I watched some Grey's and stayed up late chatting. It was great. It was one of those moments where you KNOW your prayers are answered. I honestly don't confide in her very often but we had a great discussion and she gave me some golden advice--very good advice.

Saturday morning we said goodbye to all of them as they made their trek to Cali for Neal's graduation. We will be meeting up with them on Thursday and that can't come soon enough! After they left, I did a little cleaning, painting, and then took off to the gym where I ran 3, 10 minute miles. That is the best time I have had ever! A 10 minute mile may be a joke to many of you but to me it felt amazing.

I ran to the store and then went to Anna's Baby Shower. I got her cute set of cloths and those shoe sock things. Seriously, our babies will wear those socks everywhere. I think they are SO cute! It was a cute shower and we are so excited for Shawn and Anna!

I ran some more errands, got my purple towels I have been searching for on sale and then ran home to hang out with my favorite man...okay, second favorite man, Blake. Our neighbors have the sweetest little boy {I have talked about him before} and him and his mamma came over and we painted our nails. It was fun and good for her to hand blake off to me while she painted her nails.

Nephi got home and we made dinner. Yes, the best dinner ever. I ended up making that Sweet Potato Pizza Crust and it was HEAVEN!
I made it a meat lovers pizza because it's his favorite. I used turkey sausage and turkey bacon to make it reduced in calories and cut up some ham as well.

Even if you don't like sweet potatoes...you have got to try this! You can't even taste it but the pizza is just better with it in there. It was really easy but allow about 1 1/2 hr of prep. It didn't take me that long because I threw the dough in the oven in my bowl on 170 for 20 minutes to let it rise.

Just make it. Please? I think we will be making it every weekend. I just had the left overs and I am still drooling. I would not be surprised if I ended up making it again tonight. And, Nephi liked it too. Whew! That kid. So picky.

We just hung out and planned on hanging stuff on our walls but they our friends Parker and Camille called and wanted to meet up for Fro Yo! Of course we couldn't resist and ended up hanging out with them the rest of the night! It was so fun and we love them!

Sunday morning we were just about to leave to church (10:55) and Nephi remembered he had a mission farewell for a guy he works with at 11! We ran out the door and made it in time for church to start. It was great. I love missionary farewells and Zach is going to be an AMAZING missionary!

Sunday night we had friends over for game night. We played Telestrations, of course, and had a blast! The best one of the night was this:

The original word was Aardvark and then turned into "Intellectual Black Man" {which is what this picture represents} and ended up with me guessing, "Crazy Black Man" from this photo. Uhhh...we were DYING! Sarah drew this picture and we were all so confused by it. Apparently that is math and smart stuff coming out of his head...obviously. Oh man. If you haven't played that game with us yet---ask us and we will play with you. We LOVE it!

To top off the weekend, Nephi talked in his sleep last night. I woke up to Nephi leaning over me and looking at the floor on my side. He was there for a minute, just quiet, and then whispered, "What the!?" So I kind grunted, "huh," and he said, "There are cups in the shape of a sheep! I thought it was a sheep!" Uhhhh...

And he tells me I am a crazy sleeper?

We had a great weekend with family and friends and look forward to this SHORT week! :)

A Quick Facts Update

Some quick facts about Nephi and I lately:

  • Nephi got a 83% on his last Chemistry test. Eek! I was beyond excited. So much hope. So much hope.
  • I am going to Vegas next week for this huge event I have been planning for work. I am SO excited for it all to actually happen! A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have gone into it and I can't wait to meet all the wonderful people in my company.
  • We never go out on Friday nights anymore. We live in Rexburg and traffic is rough on a Friday night [considering we only have 2 lane streets and no turning lane]. We have indulged in Friday night television, aka, watching this show. Don't judge. We kind of love how cheesy and over-dramatic it is.
  • We love Conan. I need more sleep, yet I will stay up to watch Conan almost every night.
  • We are both considering deleting our Facebook accounts. Never once have I considered this until recently. I am having a hard time not getting frustrated at people. I believe that Facebook reflects who you are and what you represent. It's like your personal PR and not everyone is considerate of that and too many agendas are being pursued [personal & political] and it is driving us crazy. Will we do it? We don't know. But we figured out how to change our privacy settings last night so don't be surprised if you can't access our profiles soon. (I can't delete mine because I manage Social Media for work and I have to have a personal account to manage our page.)
  • Nephi is always cold. Seriously, always. Every night I am just sitting on the couch or doing dishes and I notice how quiet it is and turn around to see Nephi hunched over by the heater rubbing his hands together. Bah! It's funny.
  • We are still on the apartment hunt! I am going to go see a few places this week and we hope to have a place secured by next week. This is not easy business like I thought it would be.
  • Babies. Everyone is having babies and I LOVE it! I love seeing all the cute pregnant girls in our ward and I just drool over all the cute babies. Yesterday during sacrament I turned to Nephi and said, "I want one..." He responded by asking, "Do you want one in 9 months?" I sighed, "No." Crisis. Averted. (Just kidding...) But seriously, we talked about it last night on a serious note...It was crazy. I'll stop. I've said too much.
  • Dots. I love Dots, but have officially started to go off sugar, today. Bah.
  • Bread. I love bread but have been off it for the past 3 weeks. It's been rough at times but it made me realize how much bread we eat. I am thinking about creating a "His & Her" cookbook for women who diet with skinny husbands. This no bread thing can be hard when your husband is sitting across from you eating pizza or a burger in a bun. Killer.
  • I got Nephi a bow-tie for Easter!!! It is adorable! I can't wait for him to wear it. He is pretty excited too, actually. (No, I did not force him to like it. He likes it according to his own freewill.)
  • Nephis cousin gets home from his mission this week and his other cousin is having a baby shower this week! It's pretty exciting and I love being part of his great extended family.
  • I miss my mom, a lot. Almost cried on the way to work this morning thinking about how wonderful she is.
  • I am learning a lot about people lately and actually learning, not just observing. I can feel growth in my understanding of others habits and behaviors. It's a big deal for me. This clip has helped me a lot personally.
  • So grateful for the people of Nebraska. Talked to my good friend Jay the other day (I swear, people from Nebraska know exactly when to call) and caught up. I told him how I have been struggling with a few things/people lately and he suggested going to the temple. The next day, he sent me names from some family history he has been doing and I was baptized and confirmed for 5 people! I feel so blessed to have a temple so close to us. A literal 3 minute drive, without traffic. And even more than that, to have the opportunity to be baptized & confirmed for those who didn't have the opportunity. Saturday was exactly what I needed.
  • Nephi is the best. The end.

So that's us!

A little TLC

I have decided that I am re-designing our blog. I worked on my other blog a lot and then stopped and worked on this one and then stopped so I am going to revamp both of them, starting with our blog.

So far, I have completed the header. What do you think??

Too much shopping dangit.

Yesterday I got this overwhelming urge to shop online. Don't ask why. I have never ordered clothes online.

It was so strange. So, I got some clothes online because Old Navy was having a sale. I haven't shopped there in a while because I never find anything anymore but I did and it was 30% off and Nephi said I could. (Excuses, excuses, I know.) Am I a bad person? Probably not. But it gets worse...

Last night Nephi took his first Chemistry test of the semester. Those who know Nephi personally know his struggle with Chemistry so we were both anxious to see how this first test would set the tone for the semester. Yesterday afternoon I called him and he said his dad was in town to grocery shop randomly and that he was going to give Nephi a blessing. What a miracle! Nephi is the most calm and collected person I know but he was very anxious and the blessing was exactly what he needed.

Boyd--You saved the day yesterday!

Nephi was studying on campus when I got home and then took his test. I was seriously biting my nails the whole time at home because I know how critical this was. (First world problems, I know. But it means a lot to us.) I told him not to take over two hours because there has been studies showing that once you take a test over two hours you don't function as well. In economics we would call it the "Law of Diminishing Returns", but I am no longer in economics so I DON'T have to call it that. (But I did. Psh. Education.)

Two hours and 3 min later...Nephi calls. He got a 78%!! This is a GREAT grade and we were so happy so we decided to celebrate, of course. We tried to go to our favorite fro yo place but it was CLOSED down! We were shocked. So, we went to another place in town.

It was so good! It's been awhile since we've gotten fro yo and we loved it.

Anyway, when I said it gets worse, here comes that part of the story. On our way home from fro yo, we passed by the Downeast Warehouse sale. UH. No one told me this was happening! I've been to one of these before, and they are insane deals. So, I bought more clothes. Now am I a bad person??

Maybe.

Got this cutie shirt for Nephi. There were no boy clothes! It's so hard to find good clothes for men.

I got 2 cardigans and two 3/4 length layer tees for $32 total! I couldn't resist.

So, why am I blogging this? Maybe to feel less guilty or maybe to admit that I realized why I spent too much money on clothes yesterday.

THIS is  probably why.

It's not that it is so cold outside but I have had low energy levels this week and I think buying clothes made me feel better. I may be tired because of adjusting to work? Or because we have been working out more? Or because the weather? Not sure but I just need energy!

This next week I plan on doing more of this:

and this:

And hopefully I will have more energy.

PS-Many of you probably follow this blogger. Read this post. I am impressed. I started following her out of curiosity and then she used to really bug me and I don't like her style at all but I appreciate her view points occasionally--especially this one.

I completely agree with her, btw. People who blog by obligation lack sincerity. I don't think that people that blog about fashion (without credentials) and try to earn a residual income are very legitimate in my book. Personal opinion. I love the mommy bloggers that blog about their families and recipes or coupons but people who blog about what they eat everyday or what they wear and expect to get paid for it drive me nuts.

Anyways, excited for the weekend to say the least.

We are alive, I promise!

Hi. We are alive.

I thought I would have more time with only working but it has not worked out that way. It's only been a week since school and work has started and we haven't quite gotten into a routine yet but we are working on it.

Nephi is back in school and I feel so bad for that cute kid. His schedule is rough and he feels a little overwhelmed already. This is definitely my turn to be the support because of all the he did for me last semester. He is seriously the sweetest kid I have ever met and he will do so well this semester. We are hoping that him only working on Saturdays will help him be able to focus on school more. What a blessing! We were really praying that I could find a job that would be able to support us enough financially that he would be able to cut down his hours and we did!

So, I started my job! It's been so great. The first day I went straight to work and started working on a few big projects. Currently I am on the phone constantly with about 6 different hotels in Vegas negotiating terms to have a conference there in the spring. In between that research, I have put together a proposal for another huge project: a company blog. I am super excited about that! And then of course there is the company newsletter that I had to write all by myself. Only 8 articles about a company and people I don't even know, no worries. I just finished my last article today and it will go to the designer tomorrow. (I will probably be designing it in the future which I am looking forward to.)

Then there are the small tasks in-between such as social media research, product testing (free lotion and shampoo--yessssss), and then taking pictures of products and photo editing (I hope to do more of that). Needless to say, it is aligned with everything that I want to do and I feel like I have already grown so much. It has been such a blessing! The people are great and the company has awesome products that I have already tried so you better believe I will be convincing you all to try them.

Oh, and I am flying to Vegas on the *company plane* on Thursday to go visit venues for the convention. :) ((Sorry, I had to rub that in everyone's face.))

Okay, I am done bragging about my great job. Kinda. Well, since I got an iPhone (Thanks, Boss) I have been using instagram to post photos. So for all of you who have that, follow me (malloryguymon), and for all those who don't, here are the pictures I have been taking lately.

These taste like heaven. Enough said.

My phone case! I love it.

Put our laundry basket too close to the heater. My bad.

A little baking. The dough didn't rise but they still turned out super yummy! I made these Christmas morning.

Got to hang out with this cute girl (niece) a bunch and it made our life. She is funny as ever.

Our fir Christmas, married!

This little baby (niece #2) made me want a baby really bad. Oh gosh. I still crave playing with her everyday.

Yummy funnel cakes! My sweet mother-in-law gave each of the girls a funnel cake maker for Christmas. They are deadly.

I got The Help from Nephi's parents. Loved it.

Nephi's parents also got us a Kinect! We have Zumba and Wipe Out and we love it!

New shoes. Love them.

Featured in the company newsletter last month.

A little organizing.

We went to Park City for New Years to see my best friend and her cute family! It was a blast and we LOVED it.

Nephi made me a yummy dinner when I was sick.

Homemade orange julius (inspired by Pinterest) with real AZ oranges!

Mother sent me some curtains to put up over our open closet. I like them a lot.

Celebrating our first week of school and work with some homemade pizza and bubbly.

No joke. Just read.

Sunday breakfast! Our church time changed to 1:00 and we are really happy about it.

Made dinner in a pumpkin! So yummy. Let me know if you want the recipe.

Played this game a few times! Buy it. It is SO much fun!

Another Pinterest inspired activity. It kinda worked.

Decorating the office!

Still in progress...any tips!?

Eating healthy. Gained waaay too much weight last semester.

Oh hey, Tony Romo retweeted me. That probably means nothing to most of you but it's an accomplishment in the Twitter world. I also was retweeted by Coke and followed by The Blaze columnist. Feeling good about my Twitter Stats. :)

Anyway--that is us, for now...
